Dr Barbara Mitchels

LL.B., PhD., FBACP (Snr Accred), UKRCP., was a solicitor in private practice, and is the Director of Watershed Counselling Service, based in Devon.  Barbara provides training events and CPD workshops in the UK and abroad, and runs a web based information, mediation and advice service for therapists at http://www.therapylaw.co.uk.  Her PhD research with the Peace Studies Department at the University of Bradford explored trauma and post-war therapy in the Balkans building on her work with UNICEF and other NGOs.  Barbara’s other research has included law and ethics, and her publications include books and journal papers on law, trauma, therapy and peacemaking.

FBACP, DCC, is a leading expert on the use of technology in therapy. She qualified as a psychotherapist in 2001, with her MSc Thesis on The Nature of the Online Therapeutic Relationship. Kate has trained practitioners and organisations worldwide in online therapy for over twelve years.  She is co-editor and co-author of three textbooks on the subject, as well as numerous articles, chapters and journals.  Her doctoral thesis was Developing Counselling and Psychotherapy in the Age of Technology and the Internet.
